RUN... Don't walk!

RUN... Don't walk! That's the type of energy you'll get from this week's conversation with all-round legend, Tim Guinea.

I've known Tim for years but he surprised me in this conversation by sharing a lot about his why, and how growing up living on a farm really impacted how he leads today.

Tim's a family man and the Founder and Managing Director of AAMG. With more than 15 years’ experience across the mining and resources industry, he is an experienced professional with specialist knowledge across all areas of Asset Management.

Tim has worked for, and with, world class mining houses and service providers including Anglo American, Fortescue, Downer EDI and Thiess, starting his career as a Drill Fitter in exploration, to leading teams of professionals to deliver world class outcomes safely, efficiently and on-time.

He is known for his leadership style and operational expertise, which has seen him improve culture and ultimately the business' performance.

In this conversation, you’ll hear us discuss:
➡️ The skills shortage in Australia and what Tim and his company are thinking about in terms of doing differently when it comes to attracting people
➡️ How Tim’s farming upbringing helped nurture his resilience as an apprentice, a tradie, supervisor, and now a business owner
➡️ What it felt like becoming a 28-year-old first-time supervisor and leading a crew that were mostly older than him (some double his age)
➡️ Why tradies make great leaders (transferable skills of communicating, seeing the bigger picture, common sense, and pragmatism)
➡️ His breathing technique (that I've since adopted)!
