Both of our businesses are built off the back of running and hosting workshops.

A lot of people tell us we should run more live, public/open events.

But the truth is? We hate it.

It's a romantic idea to host a live, in-person event and attracting the right people.

- You get excited about the venue....
- About the experience you're creating for the group...
- Introducing amazing people...
- Sharing food and champagne...
- Generating a buzz...

The reality?

It's actually really tough to get people to an event, even if you do have an "audience".

This is something Myriam Hadnes, the host of Workshops Work and founder of the NeverDoneBefore community and I riffed on today on our walk and talk. Myriam is based in Amsterdam, and we met through our facilitation podcasts.

So happy she jumped on a plane to say hi, and we got genuine 1:1 time (without the pressure of having to run a live event).

What do you think about live events? Is the juice worth the squeeze?

p.s. If you have hacked the system and know how to sell workshops and live events, reach out to Myriam, she's looking for someone amazing!
