Working from home today?

I’ve read some GREAT tips on LinkedIn on about avoiding distraction. This is helpful HOWEVER, if I could only offer one tip about remote working it would be

➡️ MANAGE UP

Trust is the biggest thing when it comes to remote working.

My philosophy has always been output > hours.

So, you need to crush the output when you’re working from home (and you may be able to do it in less than 8 hours).

The good news is, without the interruptions of commuting + office life, this is a real opportunity to get things done.

Think of the 3 key things you need to do today to move things forward.

📝Write them down on a post-it note. 📝

Then, if it’s your first day working remotely - give your manager a call to let them know; or send them a note outlining the 3 things.

Keep the post-it note with you, to keep you a focus point for today.

Then, this afternoon, send your manager an update on how you tracked against your 3 tasks.

📌 Using your manager as an accountability buddy helps to

a) Keep you focused and

b) Build the trust every day you’re not in the office.
