Well, I guess it's capital o Official now

Hughesy will be running (jogging) the Gold Coast Marathon!
BUT this is not another tiresome LinkedIn post about the parallels between sport and business blah blah blah.

This post is about world leading coaches.

Once you've decided you'd like some external help, I want to encourage you to not hold yourself back when deciding WHO will coach you.

WHO you choose will have dramatic impact on your trajectory.

ANd btw, you don't need a permission slip to work with the world's best.

Reach out.
Work with them.
ESPECIALLY when you're not feeling ready!

I enlisted Pat Carroll OAM's help (featured in this pic) back in 2015 when I lived in Broome, asking for a virtual running program. Pat has a string of records and titles to his name, running a marathon in 2:09.

At that stage, 5km was about my limit. As he's a legend in this field, I was confident that if I just followed his method, I could complete my first marathon back then.
Sometimes when you work with a terrific coach, you put your trust in them and over time (and numerous kms on the legs!), you learn to trust yourself.

I started working with Alan Weiss in 2021, when I was only a couple years into busines). He's the rockstar of consulting, written 60 books, Hall of Fame speaker.

And thank goodness I did.

I've dramatically shifted how I think and operate as a solopreneur (btw - Alan and I are broadcasting live into LinkedIn tomorrow at 6.30am, I'll post details in the comments).

The best part about going directly to the source, is that you learn a tremendous amount quickly AND you can avoid a lot of mistakes on the way.

Coaching is not about becoming a mini-me.

It's about listening to outside perspectives (often very different from how you're currently thinking) from those who have gone on that journey before you, who can raise the bar in terms of what's possible.

We live in a great time. It's 2024. How marvellous that we can read a book/ watch a video and totally resonate with the author's message, connect with them online, and learn directly from them?

Can't yet afford their expertise 1:1?
- Get involved in a group program and be active.
- Ask questions.
- Submit work for feedback.

Cheers to world-class coaches!
