*Tips post* I just discovered the presentation I'm delivering for a global humanitarian organisation will be translated live in Arabic, Spanish and French.

Here are my tips for preparing for this one, given it's the first time I've had live translation occur over Zoom:

➡️ I'll have a post-it note right in front of me with the words "SLOW DOWN" written in bold as a reminder to slow the pace of speech down
➡️ Provide key points and models to translators, so they have time to figure out how to explain concepts in their language
➡️ I will need to be more precise and deliberate with my speech pattern (instead of my usual chatty self)
➡️ Cut out all Australian slang
➡️ Visuals > Text on any media I share
➡️ Ask the translators to provide the correct translation of key questions upfront, so my Zoom Producer can post them in chat, along with the questions in English.
