Phenomenal works through branding efforts
Me: "Do you make denim jackets, too?"
- "No. We only focus on one thing. That's making jeans. And we do it well."
That's one of the conversations I had with a customer service officer at the Hiut Denim Co in Cardigan, Wales last year. He was reflecting the company's philosophy right back at me: We make jeans. That's it. Do One Thing Well
One company that’s creating phenomenal work through their branding efforts, is Hiut Denim Co. Meghan Markle, Prince Edward, and Ant and Dec are some of the celebrities that wear their jeans, so of course, I had to buy a pair.
Here are some photos of their digs. Their purpose is emblazoned boldly on their workshop. You might be inspired by their ethos.
I loved the experience shopping at their store, but you'll find a similar experience buying jeans off their site.
They view every pair of jeans as a work of art. Every pair of jeans is signed off by their creator ("the artist").
Their goal is to reduce their impact. On the tag of your jeans, you receive a challenge: To avoid washing your jeans for six months.
For Black Friday, they increased the price of jeans by 8600%, so they could plant 1 million trees.
All of their operations happen in a tiny, west Wales town, yet the creator David Hieatt has run his annual Do conference from a cow shed, attracting speakers like Tim Ferriss (author of The Four Week Work Week).
I was chatting to one of their employees, who said he LOVED that he could work for such an inspiring company, in West Wales. He didn't have to move to London to get that experience.
It's a terrific example that with a strong vision, a bit of creativity and the power of story, you can build an incredibly attractive business and attract GREAT people, no matter what industry you’re in, or where you're located.
Here are some pics. I'll link to their site in the comments.
