My book turned 1 last week!

To celebrate I'm hosting a free "Ask Leanne Anything" session this Friday... AND I also shared my behind-the-scenes book marketing strategy on Jessica Mudditt's excellent podcast.

Here's a list of book marketing things I tried:
(Note: This isn't an exhaustive list)

- Ensure your book solves a specific problem that people actually want the answer for + validate that before doing anything else
- I didn't have a launch party but I did have about 25 early readers/legends, dubbed the "Workshop Wingmates", who provided early feedback and then evangelised the book -- thank you!
- I spoke at two conferences internationally where I had early versions printed, and I paid local photographers/videographers to film me/guests with the book to build some hype
- Notify your email list (of course)
- In the first 30 days of release, if anyone bought a book, they completed a form on my site and I offered them the audio version for free (released via private podcast)
- I take physical copies everywhere. Take photos with clients holding it, post on social, tag them. Sometimes for fun, I'll leave the book in the airplane seat back and sign it (i.e. "Dear 12C, enjoy the book!")
- Encourage readers to post photos of their book on social and contact me, I then personally respond and send them the Amazon review page link (my goal was to get 100 reviews to build social proof)
- Ask friends who host monthly/weekly community calls for a guest slot to speak about some of your book concepts
- Screenshot Amazon reviews, post on social media.
- Created a dynamic intro ad and played it on my podcast for 60 days (this 30 second book promo played on the back catalogue of over 200+ episodes)

Result: On Amazon alone, I've sold 3854 copies to date via Amazon + bulk orders of around 500+ from clients.

A link to my podcast with Jessica, a registration link for my free call this Friday, and of course, a link to the book is in the comments!

What other ways have you promoted your book, or offering?
