Moving to regional Australia in 2011 wasn’t career limiting.

It was career defining.

The only reason I got my shot to host a workshop was because at the time, it was too costly to fly someone up from Perth.

The local community and your relationships (which always matter in any career), matter even more….You’ll always run into a colleague at the local Coles (so, make it less awkward and don’t burn bridges!)

You pay more attention to tide times and when sunset falls, than the traffic report.

I do miss the spontaneous aspects of regional life — simply popping over to a mates places because you feel like it vs scheduling a lunch/coffee weeks in advance.

Big cities aren’t the only place where you can rapidly grow, gain new perspectives and meet incredible people. If you ever get the chance, work in a remote place.
