⚠️ Rant alert ⚠️ The Dolly Parton meme challenge has me thinking about how we “show up” at work.

Inclusion: It’s a high priority for many companies.

Inclusion is about embracing all people - irrespective of the things that make us different. It’s about recognising that our uniqueness should be celebrated.

I like hearing leaders say things like, “We want people to show up at work as themselves, every day”.

Funnily enough though, showing up “as yourself” at work is not easy.

In my career, I’ve definitely felt like I’ve had to tame down my personality to “be professional”.

I’m wondering, does this mean the organisational culture I work in, is not inclusive - if I’m not comfortable enough to be myself?

❓What’s the line between Professional vs Being Myself?

My next question: Does LinkedIn have an inclusive culture? I’ve seen people post here, only to receive backlash/feedback that their content should go on Facebook.

In my opinion, what that leaves us with is:

➡️An unsafe platform where we feel like we’ll be judged endlessly when we show up as ourselves

➡️A stale news feed, churning out recycled leadership quotes and self promotion (yes, I’ve posted all of those things). ❓

Is that why only 1% of users actually post content?
