I stopped writing. It was time to change tact.

I wasn't going to post this but Petra Zink told me I should share my Work in Public (yup, you guessed it: Work in Progress with a twist).

I don't really talk about my goals too often on here... BUT one of my goals this year was to seek out an aligned Non Executive Board role.

However, work (and life) take over, so it's only been this month where I've had some space to explore opportunities.

I found a role which aligns with my industry background (the VET sector, I worked in VET in remote WA for 5 years) and passion in being world class in what they deliver.

It's always tough when you're going for something for the first time. Like, how can I brag about my results at a Board level, when I don't have Board experience?

As I started writing my application, that annoying voice hit me, "What are you doing, Leanne?", "Who are you to apply?"

I stopped writing. It was time to change tact.

Instead, I opened Quicktime on my computer and shot a 90 second video about what I could offer the Board (in particular, my attraction marketing experience + generating word of mouth).

I pretended I was answering questions on a podcast interview...The words easily rushed out.

I submitted the video and also took the transcript, edited it a little and used that for my cover letter.

So, that's a little tip for you today: If you're feeling stuck, what medium can you use to get unstuck? And the second tip, RADICALLY IGNORE that annoying voice in your head.

I don't mind if it doesn't work out this time. I've learnt a great lesson on what works for me, and how to tackle the next application.
