Here’s a text I sent 90 mins ago.
I had to slam the brakes on myself.
Okay, first of all, you might be asking -- healer?
Answer: It’s my exaggerated language for booking an emergency massage.
I've been putting it off for a while.
I know, I know, it’s important to schedule these things in...
BUT
I'm not one for regular servicing.
My week changes depending on where I'm travelling, who I'm working with, what projects I work on.
So, it's honestly just more efficient to go with the flow, and book in Just in Time therapy.
It’s part of my HIIP (High-Intensity Interval Performance framework): Knowing when to pause.
How do you pause?
I think it helps to create space in your calendar.
I book myself in for Chaos Time on the daily (thanks, Sean D'Souza for this phrase and approach).
There is chaos every day.
As much as we like to go in with a daily plan, most likely, things change -- You get a call or an email that shifts a priority.
Or, you might wake up with a niggle, and the chaos is sorting that out (i.e. booking in a massage).
Having that buffer every day, allows the pause to occur when I need it. Thankfully, I had a two-hour window between client calls today.
And if I don’t need chaos time?
It's such a bonus!
➡️How do you like to operate? Are you 1 or 2?
1. I book in for scheduled maintenance
2. I’m a just-in-time-maintenance junkie, too!
