Gallup Clifton Strengths conference
On this day, three years, I co-presented on stage in Omaha, with a guy I'd only met in person the day before.
It was at the Gallup Clifton Strengths conference. Adam Mustoe, a brilliant Strengths coach had been a guest on my podcast, First Time Facilitator. At the end of the conversation, he said, "We have to get you over to Omaha!"
I didn't really think anything of it, until a few month later, Adam suggests we put in an application to speak together. He took one of my blog articles ("The 7 attributes of a superhero facilitator and how to rescue a workshop from a fate worse than death), added his humour, expertise and Strengths twist to the content, and submitted it an hour before deadline.
I got the news in December 2019 that our speech had been selected. I was off to Omaha!
The next day, I resigned from my day job.
So many cool twists to create this amazing opportunity:
- Adam saying YES to my reachout for an interview, when he had no idea who I was
- A blog article I had written on the fly, which created the pillar content for our speech and made it easy to submit an application
- Both of us trusting that we'd make it work (Adam picked me up from Omaha airport and we held our first ever "rehearsal" at a nearby pub)
It was a great union of strenghts.
I have my Top 5 pictured here. What are yours?
