You can’t see the label when you’re inside the bottle
I received the best constructive feedback over the weekend and it happened in a rather bizarre way (reminding me of that quote, “You can’t see the label when you’re inside the bottle”).
On Sunday morning I stayed up til 2am (v. rare for me!) I’ve been watching Pat Flynn’s daily YouTube show “The Income Stream” on replay and thought I’d join in for his live show.
I love his show. I learn so much about marketing and business growth on the daily. I submitted my website for his reviews segment and was thrilled when it was picked out for a live review!
Pat spent about 10mins going through my site, providing specific feedback on different elements. The community of 200 people that joined in live, also piped in with their thoughts.
You know what's interesting? Everything Pat said, I already knew in theory (and in fact, tell other people to do!)
- I know about simple language on the header of a website.
- I know about selling the end result (not selling a program on features)
- I know about the importance of a good hero image
-- but I did the opposite on my own site. It reminds me of why it’s important to ask for feedback: Those fresh eyes and new perspective are everything.
If you’d like to watch Pat critique my site, I’ve popped the link below.
